Support Update

It is beginning to feel like Fall here in Maryland! Logan and I are loving the cool air outside as we work with our windows open this afternoon.

Now that we have been here on campus for about a month and a half, it is time for a little update on our Annual Budget.

God has blessed us beyond what we deserve in so many ways and we are so thankful to all of you who have been a part God's plan to reach students for Christ at UMD.

As Logan excitedly announced at the beginning of school, he has reached 100% of his annual budget for this year! This is such a relief to both of us and we just want to praise God for his faithful provision!

Meanwhile, my account stands at a healthy 94% of my annual budget, which means I still need about $1,800 to reach my full budget for the year.

Reaching our annual budget helps Logan and I target our focus and energy into ministering to students and takes off a great deal of stress! So, if you were considering support I could still really use your help!

If you have not yet become a part of our financial team, would you please pray and consider being a part of what God is doing here at UMD?

You can Give here or find out more on our Support Page

Thank you so much to all of you who have been a part of God's blessing to us already! We so appreciate your support and especially your prayers!

Grace & Peace,
Kristy

Moving and a whole lot more...

And now, time for a very much delayed post about our move to Maryland!

We are so thankful for the opportunity we've been given and praise God for his amazing provision! One thing about this internship that is both challenging and so beautiful is that it is a really difficult job. This may seem strange to some who picture us playing sports and hanging out with college students all day, but there is so much more to it than that (and the hangout part can be really hard too!). Much of this first semester is realizing that God works differently at different campuses, that you don't know what your doing or have it all together, struggling with failure, and having to collapse on his mercy and grace for rest.

What does this have to do with moving? Well we found this out pretty early on in the moving process. Logan and I were traveling during all but a few days of July, and scrambled to pack all of our things for the move. The process involved a whole lot of ciaos, ruined plans, and much sweat and tears.

But God is good and his plans are higher than ours.
  • He provided the funds we needed just in time and we laughed and cried at such generosity and love.
  • The man who we rented our Penske truck from was so kind and understanding. This guy helped us push back our truck reservations on a minute's notice 3 times without any extra charge! Again, we laughed and cried at God's mercy and faithfulness.
  • Some of our sweet Nashville friends patiently helped us move our poorly packed things on short notice. And we laughed with them and cried as we said goodbye to this sweet community of friends that we have been through so much with back in Tennessee.
I can see a trend forming here - God is good and sovereign. We also laugh and cry a lot these days. I can see God working in our hearts and forming us into the image of His son more and more everyday. I can see my sin exposed, and His mercy & grace to cover my shame. I can see God at work on this campus despite my failure and even what I think are successes.

God is good, and He knows what He is doing. He has blessed us so richly beyond what we deserve. I'm so thankful for His son!

Here is a sneak peek at the only room in our house the is completely decorated and unpacked: our fun retro kitchen!

Hiking at Great Falls

Last Saturday, Logan and I went with RUF on a hike of Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls in Virginia! It was a great outing to get new students connected with RUF and give everyone a chance to have fun and get to know each other better.

And it was a beautiful day and a beautiful hike! Check it out:

The only "nature" photos that turned out!

All the students had a blast and we did too. It was great to get to know some old faces to Maryland's RUF and see the new people connect as well!

Fun facts: Great Falls was a part of George Washington's plan to make the Potomac River navigable as far as the Ohio River Valley. Canals were thought to be the new easy transportation. Great Falls were part of this system, and some of the locks still work today!

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers as we move through the semester! God has been blessing us with many new students, and we can't wait to share more of what He is doing!

First Maryland Football Game!

Saturday was Maryland's first football game of the season, and Logan and my first sports game here as well!

Although we pulled out a win, it wasn't too pretty! Still, we had a good time sitting with some RUF students. Since Belmont doesn't have a football team, being at one in the student section was quite a new experience for Logan and I! It was a sea of Red and so hot! I think we've gotten the cheers down now though.

For those of you who don't know, Maryland students are the Terrapins. I've got to say I'm a fan! Especially of this:
Happy Labor Day Weekend!
